From Gamescom Wins to New Features

Release Date:

September 10, 2024

August was packed with surprises, progress, and a few bumps in the road. Here’s a quick look at what happened:

New Developer on Board

We weren’t actively looking to expand our team, but sometimes the best things happen when you least expect them. A talented developer reached out, eager to introduce himself. After chatting with him, it was clear he was a great fit, and we decided to bring him on board. This was a reminder that we’re doing something right when people want to join us based on recommendations from those we’ve worked with. It’s a great sign for the culture and progress we’re building! 🙏

Sharpening the Business Case

Throughout the month, we conducted even more interviews with content creators to fine-tune our business approach. Their insights have been invaluable in helping us make NClip the best it can be.

Gamescom Highlights

Gamescom was a massive opportunity for us!

We prepped extensively to make the most of it, with two main focuses:

  1. Talking to Creators: Our founding team pulled out all the stops to speak with as many content creators as possible. We had over 20 meetings, discussing their daily challenges and getting incredible feedback on NClip, which gave us even more confidence that we’re on the right track. We also got 40 new sign-ups for our beta waiting list!
  2. User Interviews: We also worked with four content creators to run interviews with their fans, which gave us valuable marketing and sales insights. Contrary to some concerns, almost everyone would be happy to sign up for an additional platform – only 2 out of 70 interviews raised any hesitations. That’s a massive win for us!

Gamescom was overall a huge success for us, helping us see the value of our product and giving us momentum as we head toward the demo.

Community Management Features

Thanks to the feedback we received, we’ve added a major new feature to our tool: community management. It’s not just about building engagement or growing a community; it’s also about managing and coordinating those relationships. Creators shared how existing tools don’t do enough to help them with that, so we’re working on automating those tasks to make their lives easier.

Challenges Along the Way

But of course, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. We faced some delays due to illnesses and PC crashes, which slowed down our progress.

To make matters worse, our business account was frozen for 3.5 weeks because a signature sample got lost in the mail. We had to resend it multiple times, which was a huge drain on our energy. During that time, we couldn’t pay our team or cover Gamescom expenses from the business account – everything had to be fronted privately. It was a tough lesson in dealing with unexpected bureaucratic hurdles.

The Bright Side

Despite the hiccups, we’ve had some amazing wins too. After Gamescom, a management agency representing over 50 creators reached out to discuss a potential partnership with us. This kind of unsolicited interest is such a positive signal, and we’re thrilled to explore what’s next. 🔥
